March 31st - May 3rd, 2026
Maison de l'enfance et de l'adolescence (MEA), Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG)
Supported by the BRIDGE Funding Program, Fondation Convergences
Production support by the Swiss Center for Design and Health
Designed as a child-friendly, trauma-sensitive therapeutic interface, this project
transforms the entrance and waiting area into a calm, welcoming space that begins
supporting children, adolescents, and families even before the consultation starts.
Through light, paper, and participatory check-in and reflection cards, this installation
helps young patients feel oriented, reassured, and involved during their waiting time.
The narratives and content of the cards were developed in direct response to
feedback from MEA clinicians and staff on the current reception experience,
reflecting the needs and challenges they observe on arrival.
"Thresholds of Porosity" invites us to see the waiting space not simply as
a transition area, but as an active part of care that can support early engagement,
emotional expression, and a shared sense of safety and trust.
